Memoire of a Secret Agent

images.jpeg

This was originally planned to be a series of five novellas self-published as ebooks on kindle under the pseudonym Ann Bresset. Two of these - Bresset's War and Bresset's Spies - are available in this format (see below). The third - Bresset's Honour - has been written but not published. I have now decided to publish these in print format as two novels. The first of these will be called Bresset's Wartime and will include all the content of the novella, as well as half the content of Bresset's Spies. The second novel will be called Bresset's Peace, and will include the other half of Bresset's Spies along with all the content of Bresset's Honour.

I was inspired to write this series by a TV documentary about female SOE agents during World War Two. It seemed to me that women were greatly unrepresented in the spy thriller genre, even though they were just as heroic as men. And I wondered what these brave agents did once the war was over....

Bresset's Wartime

This book is written. I am looking for a publisher.

The discovery of a skeleton near an old American airbase recalls events that took place during World War Two. It unleashes a chain of events that only Ann Bresset can resolve. She needs all her S.O.E. training and experience to ensure her family is protected from a vicious New York mobster. The action ranges from Paris before the war, to wartime Cambridge and Paris, and 1950s' London and NewYork. Along the way Bresset encounters murderous black marketeers, heroic resistance fighters, Nazi captors, the Suffolk constabulary, and Don Trapano, head of the East Side mafia.

Bresset's Peace

This book is set in Suffolk, Paris and Berlin. In Suffolk her husband is run off the road and killed in a motor accident and she investigates those responsible. She returns to Paris because she is unjustly accused of betraying the resistance group she worked with and to find the real betrayer. And MI6 send her to Berlin to arrange and oversee the defection of a high ranking Russian general.

This book is two-thirds written and will be published once Bresset's War has been made available.

Readers' Comments on the ebooks (source: Amazon)

"I liked the fast paced development of the plot, employing two different time frames, in alternate chapters.  The events were all aligned to recent history, but with fictitious characters in real locations"
